Tenby Schools Setia Ecohill has an excellent reputation for creating opportunities for students to experience Amazing Learning. Our student population is aged between 3 and 16 years old and consists of different nationalities from across the globe. In primary, we follow the national curriculum for England, together with the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) and International Primary Curriculum (IPC). In secondary the curriculum progresses to IGCSE and A Level qualification, with our A-Level programme set to launch in August 2022. Our pupils are taught by our strong team of committed and experienced teachers, who receive competitive salaries and benefits. Our beautiful campus is located in the leafy district of Semenyih, 25 minutes outside of Kuala Lumpur and home to terrific hiking and other outdoor activities. In addition, the school is a part of the International Schools Partnership Group (ISP) which is based in Madrid and has over 60 schools across the globe, allowing for excellent networking and collaboration opportunities. 

The school first opened its doors in 2016 and has enjoyed wonderful growth and success in its short history. The successful candidate needs to have experience with department leadership in a school which emphasises a growth mindset and where the wellbeing of the school community is a high priority. With the support of ISP, we have made significant investments in infrastructure on the current site, and we will be embarking on other projects which will provide our students with access to state-of- the art learning spaces. We are very excited about the journey the school is currently on and are now looking for a Head of Maths to take the department to the next level.

Our Head of Maths will:       

• Lead teaching practices and classroom management within the Maths department to ensure outstanding teaching and learning takes place 

• Secure robust practice regarding planning, preparation, assessment and reporting across the department 

• Promote the school Vision and ethos within the department and all lessons 

• Demonstrate outstanding curriculum knowledge and further develop the Mathematics curriculum, including A-Level 

• Exhibit a collaborative mindset with the wider school and promote Mathematics within the school community

• Be responsible for the appraisal process of all teachers within the Maths department 

• Possess excellent knowledge and experience of assessment and tracking to inform student progress, including the use of standardised tests to impact on learning. 

• Demonstrate initiative in further CPD and contributing to CPD sessions in school 

• Be engaging, charismatic and possess excellent communication skills with students, teachers and parents 

Candidate profile

• Hold an Education Degree.    

• Hold an UK-recognized teaching qualification (PGCE or similar). 

• At least 2 years’ experience in a Head of Department role. 

• A secondary teaching qualification. 

• Considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the Cambridge Maths curriculum. 

• A-Level experience [preferred]

• A passionate educator with high levels of professionalism and care for children.

The district of Semenyih is a relatively new suburban development within the expanding city limits of Kuala Lumpur. As such it enjoys the best of both urban and rural experiences, with jungle trekking only a few minutes away and Kuala Lumpur being a 25-minute drive. The city of Kuala Lumpur is truly one of the more diverse urban areas globally, with Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures blending with a range of other cultural groups. Tenby International School – Setia Echohill is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, independent, all-through school with sixth form, in Malaysia, serving students from the age of 3-18. The all-through school is situated in Semenyih, Selangor. It belongs to the Tenby Schools Group, an expanding group of six international and Malaysian private schools across the country.

Tenby International School – Setia Echohill is the latest of the six schools, having opened in 2016. The building offers facilities including tennis courts, football fields, a swimming pool, art rooms, music rooms, a café and computer suites. Students are taught from a British inspired curriculum and  go on to study towards IGCSE exams and International A levels.
