Cambridge International School (CIS) in Bratislava, Slovakia, is seeking to appoint a passionate and inspirational Head of Mathematics. In addition to finding an outstanding teacher, we are seeking to appoint an individual who is excited by the opportunity to build on the department’s success and has a clear vision for how this will continue during the coming years.

The main responsibilities would be as follows:

• Management of subject curriculum

• Moderation of work within subject

• Subject specific assessment

• Resourcing of the relevant subject area

The ability and experience to teach Computer Science and Further Mathematics would be major assets.

1. The School

CIS is constituted by a full Primary and Secondary School and is the focal campus of the Cambridge family, which currently includes four Cambridge International Kindergartens (Funiversities) across Bratislava. CIS operates from bespoke and architecturally and educationally influenced accommodation which includes a sports hall, library, assembly hall, school canteen, science labs, art and music rooms, computing suites, dance and drama facilities and extremely well-furnished and well-resourced classrooms.

CIS offers an outstanding International education, centred on the Cambridge (CAIE) pathway and enhanced by the Slovak National Curriculum, but with a focus always on international best practice. The School itself is located in the charming and scenic Staré Mesto District, in a friendly and quiet residential area of Bratislava, near the beautiful Horsky Park. A new Sixth Form centre was opened in August 2020 to meet rising demand, and the School has ambitious and compelling plans for further development. The Board are extremely engaged, supportive and willing to invest in the future education and success of CIS students and graduands. A brand-new Secondary campus based on a 21st Century learning skills model is due to open close to the current school in 2026. 2. The Role

We are currently looking for a qualified and experienced teacher who will also contribute to the strategic development of the school to join our Secondary School team. The Head of Secondary Mathematics will have the overall responsibility for the professional leadership and management of the department in order to ensure high standards of teaching and learning are delivered, resources are used efficiently and effectively, and the curriculum is managed and developed in accordance with school policy.

3. The Desired Candidate

We are seeking a UK or similarly qualified graduate in Mathematics or a closely related discipline with a recognised teaching qualification in Mathematics and experience in the teaching of this subject to A-level and IGCSE. Applicants from outside the EU must hold a Master's degree to be eligible for employment in Slovakia. Please see the attached letter and appendix for further eligibility details.
