Job overview

Due to relocation of our current teacher, we seek an enthusiastic, dynamic and outstanding Maths teacher for our highly successful School.  We have just received an excellent ISI inspection report, which can be viewed in full on our website.

The average class size is 14 boys at this small, successful preparatory school in central Sevenoaks, catering for boys aged 4 – 13. The Head of Mathematics leads the Maths curriculum across the school and teaches Maths lessons to Years 6-8.  Experience of teaching the Common Entrance curriculum would be an advantage, but not essential.

The role enjoys the support of an experienced Learning Development Assistant (shared with the English Department) and all teachers here benefit from a well-run and resourced Learning Development team.  Solefield is a very well-resourced school and all staff enjoy the warm atmosphere that extends throughout the school community. The staff also have a good social life with our famous Music and Curry Night being a prime example.

Boys leave us at the end of Year 6 or 8 to go to a range of selective state and independent senior schools.  As well as preparing boys for the 11+ and 13+ exams, we also prepare a high number of boys for a range of scholarships – Academic, Music, Drama, Art & Sport.

For more information, please see the letter to applicants from our Headmaster, Dougal Philps and the article about working at Solefield from Emma Snow, our Head of English. You are also welcome to contact Mrs Barbara Volpato, P.A. to the Headmaster, for a chat about the role and to arrange a tour prior to an application:

01732 452142 or b.volpato@solefieldschool.org

Closing date: Monday 2nd March

Interviews: week commencing 9th March

Solefield School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
