As Head of Mathematics, you will ensure that Uppingham’s Maths teaching is creative and inspirational, keeping staff abreast of educational developments so that the most innovative courses are chosen, planned and delivered. Guiding, supporting and appraising the teachers in the department, you will create a teaching culture in which pupils of all ages and aptitudes are enthused, inspired, nurtured, stretched, and supported.

“Pupils demonstrate positive attitudes towards work and study. They have good literacy skills at all ages and articulate ideas and opinions fluently. Work is generally presented neatly and pupils’ note-taking is effective. They develop good numeracy skills and their capacity to think critically is notable. Creative abilities are well developed and their exploration of ideas is particularly marked in their enrichment activities. Pupils’ study habits are good. In the lessons observed, pupils worked very well with each other, and also worked well independently. They enjoy their work and this stems in part from the good-natured atmosphere in lessons.
