Clay Hill School are looking to recruit an passionate, Inclusive and driven teacher and Head of Maths needed for September 2022.

We are looking to recruit and dynamic and forward thinking Primary Teacher to join our School. In addition to a teaching commitment, you will also play a vital part of the middle management of the school as the Head of Maths. This role requires excellent communication skills, high levels of self-motivation and the necessary drive and commitment to support our young people to achieve. Clay Hill School is an independent specialist day school for young people with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) and associated complex needs. We provide education for young people aged 5 to 19 years.

Residential placements are available on either a weekly, termly, or 52 week basis at our two on-site children’s homes.

We provide a warm and welcoming yet structured environment, which encourages children and young people to develop the social, educational and practical skills they require to enjoy and achieve.

Clay Hill School provides a wholly integrated and highly effective provision providing small group education, individualised therapy, and a carefully and creatively constructed curriculum which develops a love of learning and gives our young people the best possible outcomes. 

A calm, purposeful and caring environment is provided, which combined with high staff to pupil ratios, ensures that every pupil at Clay Hill School has the opportunity to develop their ability, share new experiences and reach their full potential in a secure and safe environment.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher and ideally have experience of teaching and supporting young people within SEN, along with the following characteristics:

Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.  

Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs.  Good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.

Organisation – You will have experience of organising, planning and teaching well-structured lessons tailored to the needs of the pupils as well as monitoring each students learning needs, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of each pupil.

Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer.  If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

Attentive – No two tasks will be the same so being attentive to understand the needs of the young people we support is vital
