Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) is set on the outskirts of the vibrant city of Brighton, next door to Falmer station and to Brighton and Hove Albion’s AMEX Stadium. Situated close to the A27, the school has good road and rail transport links. Close to country, city and seaside, the context for this is rich and diverse with many opportunities to engage with the community and build cultural capital for students.

The BACA estates are new with its current buildings opened in 2011.

BACA is very much a community school with a truly comprehensive intake. With 43% of its cohort designated as being in the pupil premium category, BACA works hard to support all students to achieve strong engagement and strong outcomes. With a strong focus on our four key improvement levers around culture, coaching, curriculum and data-informed instruction, the BACA team are building towards a consistent provision that supports great progress for all students. 

Overall Purpose of the Role:

To be responsible for managing the Maths Department.

To Liaise with SLT, HODs, HOYs, SENDCO, subject staff, support staff.

To strategically plan for the development of the following areas demonstrating impact of these on learning and progress of pupils.

To narrow the gaps in the achievement of all groups of learners through:

• Securing high quality teaching which directly impacts upon pupil progress

• Curriculums which facilitate the progress of all learners

• Ensuring responsive interventions across your subject

• To work with other colleagues to maximise positive work ethic and a love of learning for your subjects

This role is considered exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. Which means standard and enhanced DBS checks will now always show all unspent records, including youth conditional cautions, meaning some previously unrecorded details will now be disclosed.
