St Mary’s Catholic High School is seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher and leader with a track record for achieving excellent outcomes to the role of Head of Maths.
St Mary’s is a popular 11-18 mixed Academy with excellent student behaviour, judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in October 2012. This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and vibrant school and lead a well-respected and effective team at one of the top performing schools in the county.
The successful candidate will be dynamic and innovative, providing professional leadership for the department to ensure high-quality teaching and learning; enhancing further the excellent exam results of the Maths Department. He/she will be an exceptional classroom practitioner delivering lessons that motivate our students to achieve, and will lead and develop the delivery of Maths in Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.

St Mary’s Catholic High School is a mixed secondary academy in North Derbyshire. The school converted to a Catholic voluntary-aided academy in the summer of 2012. St Mary’s is located north of Chesterfield, with places for 1,300 students aged 11-18, of which 285 are in the sixth form. The school primarily serves North East Derbyshire, but some students travel from as far afield as Sheffield.
St Mary’s Catholic High School is supported by the Catholic dioceses of Hallam and Nottingham, with additional governors appointed to represent parents, staff and the local authority.

Students say that bullying is not a concern and it is very rare for any disruption to occur in lessons. Students are kept very safe in the school and it is clear from their attitudes to school and their attendance that students are extremely proud to be a part of the community of St Mary’s Catholic High School.”
