Head of Maths

We seek to appoint an inspirational Head of Maths to lead and manage our successful Maths Department from September 2018.  You will be passionate about the teaching and learning of Maths; with the vision, commitment and determination to raise standards across all levels and abilities.   

Prendergast Vale School is a small all through school providing high quality education from nursery to Year 11, which aims to transform the lives of all the children who attend our school.  By keeping the school small, we have created a community of pupils and teachers where no pupil is left behind and it has enabled us to create an environment in which pupils want to learn, achieve and behave well.

The successful candidate will have: 

• an excellent track record of raising attainment and examination results at Key Stages 4;  

• a track record of outstanding teaching across all Key Stages; 

• proven ability and enthusiasm to motivate students and staff; 

• the ability to raise expectations and aspirations of students of all abilities; 

• an understanding of effective strategies for urban schools; 

• a desire to share experiences and good practice with colleagues.  

You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to lead and influence others to achieve exceptional performance, holding them accountable to the highest expectations with respect to their own practice and the learning of the students in their classes.  

You will be leading and managing a team of teachers who enjoy working together to develop a love of learning in our students. In 2017 our students achieved 51% grade 5+, and 64% grade 4+ GCSE Maths.  

Our school motto is “We are forever learning” and the successful candidate will be expected to be committed to their own professional development. We are committed to providing excellent CPD for Middle Leaders and offer the accredited National Award for Middle Leaders (NPQML) to all Middle Leaders.  For all new Heads of Department we offer a comprehensive and supportive induction programme.  You will also have access to a rich and varied CPD programme within the school and across the Federation.
