A well-qualified, motivated and expert Head of Media and Teacher of English is required for September 2017, for a permanent contract. We are looking for a teacher with some experience who is ready to take the step up to a management position within an English and Media department. 

Our thriving English and Media Department is made up of 16 members of staff. We achieve consistently excellent results at GCSE, AS and A Level. The successful candidate will teach and lead delivery of Media in KS4 and KS5 and will teach English across all three key stages. We currently offer English Literature, English Language and Media Studies. Our Media department is a growing part of our curriculum; we have 2 groups per year at KS4 and 4 groups in total at KS5.

All applicants must have a track record of innovative English delivery and demonstrate a passion for English, Media and the ability to inspire a love of learning. Experience of teaching A level in Media is essential.

George Abbot School is a large 11-18, mixed comprehensive, situated in the pleasant Burpham area of Guildford, within easy reach of the town, the A3 and London Road railway station. It is a forward looking and dynamic school which has a reputation for excellence in every area. George Abbot became an Academy on 1 July 2011 and went on to be a founding member of the GEP multi academy trust. We also have Teaching School status.
