Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a Head of MFL with the drive and vision to deliver excellence in languages lessons for all year groups at an academy based in Barnsley.

You must possess the skills and determination to make a significant difference to the lives of their students and share their single goal of ‘Students First’. You will ensure effective teaching and learning is in place in MFL to ensure outstanding outcomes for students and increased numbers studying MFL at GCSE.

The academy is a welcoming and supportive academy, with a relentless determination to provide the very best education for every child. They place students at the centre of everything they do, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning.

The MFL Department at the academy currently offers French and Spanish to GCSE and therefore it is desirable for applicants to be able to teach both languages to GCSE. In Year 7 from Sept 2021 they have started a trial where their students study both languages and have the choice of continuing as dual linguist or specialising in one language from Year 8 onwards. Their vision is to open a window on the world to students in the local area and inspire them to be confident communicators and rounded individuals. They are looking for an inspiring leader who has high aspirations for both staff and students, who is committed, and passionate about language learning. Leadership experience is not essential, but applicants must be able to demonstrate the skills required to lead a department.

All applicants need to have the Right to Work in the UK to be considered for the role.

By applying to this job advertisement, you are providing consent for the Tes Recruitment team to propose and discuss your application with the employer.
