Head of MFL

Launceston College Multi Academy Trust aims to enable young people to become successful, responsible and happy by learning the knowledge, skills and values that are important for society. To help us to achieve this aim we converted to an academy in January 2013 following an Ofsted inspection 2012 which judged us to be at least good in all areas and the behaviour of our students as outstanding. Ofsted also said “The broad and varied curriculum is outstanding”. In January 2016 the College formed a Multi-Academy Trust with Bideford College.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of MFL to start in September 2017. You should be an enthusiastic and innovative teacher who will join a large, friendly and successful team in Modern Languages Faculty. The successful candidate will be required to teach Spanish and French at Key Stages 3 and 4 and offer either language at Key Stage 5, preferably AS/A2 Spanish.

Modern Foreign Languages is a strong faculty in the College with large GCSE numbers; approximately 75% are entered for the English Baccalaureate. The faculty delivers AS and A2 Spanish and French and from September 2017 will have an Advanced Skills Teacher in post. There are exchanges in both Spanish and French and the desire to develop these opportunities further. Assistants to both languages work within the faculty to support language development; the links with Bideford College provide opportunities for cross-faculty moderation and professional development.
