Job overview

The Role

Be part of a growing team of passionate linguists who share their enthusiasm with pupils and staff within a global and multilingual environment!

You will lead a vibrant and well-resourced MFL department with supportive SLT in a National Centre for Excellence for Language Pedgagogy Hub School.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced teacher to lead our MFL department while our Head of Department is on maternity leave. You will be able to teach French to KS5, as well as Spanish to KS3 or KS4. The department is committed to raising attainment; you will have the ability to motivate our students to succeed and develop their love of languages through engaging lessons.

We run trips and clubs to strengthen pupils’ love and understanding of languages and allowing them new experiences. These have included a French Escape Room, Spanish Restaurant, Mandarin Club, plus a day trip to Boulogne sur Mer. We are always open to new ideas!

About Us

You will join a department that produces improving outcomes in a heavily oversubscribed academy. The department is staffed with experienced teachers and NQTs with a shared vision and commitment to continuous school improvement.

There are approximately 1,000 students on roll, which includes the Sixth Form. A new building programme, just completed, comprises a brand new Sixth Form Centre, sports facilities including a gym and a new restaurant and coffee shop for both students and staff. We also have a thriving House system that brings our whole school community together and the possibility of shared living accommodation.

Our aim is to establish a culture of excellence throughout every element of our academy and move us from Good to Outstanding.

In Return

Highcrest offers both an excellent induction and support programme for NQTs and an innovative and extensive CPD package. There is also the possibility of shared living accommodation.

A thriving school in the heart of the community, with free on-site parking, staff recognition schemes and free gym to counter the “Friday Biscuits” and on-site coffee shop!  Just 30 minutes by train from Central London, The Highcrest Academy is the first All Ability Academy in the county of Buckinghamshire. It is culturally diverse and a vibrant school making it a fantastic place to teach. We have some students who will need all your support and yet have also featured in the national Ofsted report for providing challenge to the most able.

How to Apply

If you are a team player, passionate about education and social mobility and want to be a pivotal part of improving opportunities for the students of our local community and increasing their learning experiences, then The Highcrest Academy is the school for you.
