RISS holds a unique position within both The Netherlands and the Wolfert school
group in Rotterdam, as we are a state subsidised semi-private school, in order to be
a provider of international education. RISS serves the growing need Rotterdam has
for high quality international education for foreign nationals or returning Dutch
citizens, and is not based on exclusivity or privilege.
While many schools claim to be international simply because of the curriculum they
offer, RISS offers a dynamic and comprehensive coalition of international teachers
drawn from across the globe. We are united by our culture and common belief of an
inclusive, culturally diverse, student centred, enquiry-driven and concept-based
education that not only prepares young people for university and life beyond the
school, but also ensure that they find value in their youth.
RISS offers a warm community invested in the support and development of students,
where students are known and supported as individuals. Our pastoral programme
supported by our tutors ensure student well-being. English is our language of
instruction, though students are encouraged to study their own language, and sit their
own language exams.
Our re-accreditation by CIS and NEASC ensures we offer high quality education and
we offer both external examination with Cambridge Assessment (IGCSE) and the
International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBDP). Our students are well placed to go
into a variety of Higher Education institutions worldwide and in The Netherlands.
We foster a culture of a love and enjoyment of learning, joy in achievement, and high
expectations amongst our staff and students while actively and strategically
