Job overview

HEAD OF MODERN FOREIGN LANGUAGES (for April 2018 or earlier)

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational Head of Modern Foreign Languages. The successful applicant will be a qualified teacher with either a specialist or language related degree. This post would suit either an existing Head of MFL, or a suitably experienced teacher to lead a department of 5 teachers and 2 language assistants. An ability to teach French and Spanish at KS4 and Spanish at KS5 would be preferable. However, applications will be considered from candidates who can offer other combinations of languages.

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified and motivated teacher who genuinely wants to help develop and promote MFL in the curriculum by leading a team of experienced staff within a successful department.

The successful candidate will manage the department, teach both KS4 and KS5 languages, support pupils and provide advice to both staff and parents. The MFL department currently offers GCSE, A Level and NVQ courses across three main languages (French, Spanish and German (GCSE only). Alongside this the department helps organise examinations for native speakers and benefits from Language Assistants in both French and Spanish.

Further details and an application form may be obtained from the HR Assistant at recruitment@kingsbruton.com or 01749 814316.

Letters of application, completed application forms with curriculum vitae, together with the names and addresses of three referees, should be sent  to recruitment@kingsbruton.com by 5.00pm Friday 13th October, 2017.

King’s Bruton is an independent co-educational boarding school committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Criminal Records Bureau.

ISI report

“Relationships between staff and between pupils themselves are appropriate, and in their questionnaire responses the vast majority of boarders agree that they get on well together and feel safe in their boarding house. Staff are dedicated to the welfare of all pupils and provide a suitable structure for them to develop and thrive. Pastoral policies and procedures are effective and good behaviour is promoted.”
