The College is seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and hardworking Head of Department to lead and manage the highly successful Modern Foreign Languages Department. The successful applicant will be required to teach A Level Spanish. The ability to offer French or German would be an advantage.
The post is available from 1 September 2020 on permanent, full-time basis. The full-time teaching contact time at Reigate College is 22.75 hours per week. Heads of Department receive two periods of remission (2 x 65 minutes) for their responsibility.
Our ideal person will be able to demonstrate a track record of success in delivering the highest standards and achieving outstanding results. The post holder must be confident in the use of information technology in all aspects of their work.
The post would equally suit an experienced Head of Department or someone looking for their first Head of Department role.
The Department is housed in the Priory Building, in recently constructed classrooms (language labs). The classrooms are fully equipped with data projectors, white boards and PCs for all students.
The Department teaches in a collaborative style, with all staff contributing to central teaching resources. Students regularly progress onto university courses for French, German, Spanish, Languages and International Business/Relations.
The Department consists of three other teachers, who are supported by Foreign Language Assistants. The Department works closely as a team in a friendly and co-operative manner. Strong emphasis is given to mutual support by the exchange of ideas and materials.
Students are able to take advantage of annual trips abroad to further enhance their language skills.
The post holder will be supported by Course Leaders in French and German.
The Department offers French, German and Spanish A Levels. In addition to the taught periods, each student attends a compulsory, weekly conversation class (4 or 5 students in each) with the relevant Foreign Language Assistant.
The salary for this post is up to £43,344 per annum.
