HEAD of MUSIC (and Teacher) – Preparatory School

Commencing January 2018

In collaboration with the Director of Music and Head of Preparatory School this role will  provide the vision and leadership for the music Preparatory School programme through the development and delivery of high quality teaching programmes that encourage students to achieve academically and to become life-long learners.  Of critical importance is the direct oversight of, and responsibility for, the Preparatory School Music Performances (Co-curricular activities). Mandatory requirements for this role are:

  • Ability to teach classroom music to Preparatory School classes, years Reception to      year 6;
  • An experienced Kodaly practitioner with AKC (Australian Kodaly Certificate) or working toward;
  • Qualified Teacher and registered with the Queensland College of Teachers; 
  • Recent experience with International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme highly desirable. (Primary Years Programme);
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Piano and passion for Choral work advantageous;
  • Eligibility to work in Australia.

All staff at Churchie are expected to support the philosophies of the School, and must be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers.

About Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie)

Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) is an independent, Anglican, day and boarding school for boys, located in East Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Its traditions date to 1912 when William Perry French Morris founded the school at Toowong, before relocating to the present site in 1918.

Churchie is pursuing authorisation as an IB World School. Once authorised, two IB programmes will be available to students: The Primary Years Programme for children aged 3-12 and the Diploma Programme for those aged 16-19. Through these curriculums and teaching/learning framework and approaches, the school will teach in accordance with the mandated Australian Curriculum and Queensland Studies Authority syllabuses where applicable.

Churchie invests extensively in attracting, developing and retaining the highest quality of teaching staff, attracted from national and international education settings.
