Kings’ School Al Barsha is seeking an experienced and qualified Head of Music to lead our department. 

The school runs GSCE and A-Level courses in Music and Sound Engineering. The Music Faculty is excellently resourced and enjoys the active support of the Senior Leadership, who have a passion for music and view it as essential to the curriculum. 

The post holder will oversee and coordinate the day-to-day running of the school’s Music Department. They will ensure the curriculum feeds into and supports a vibrant programme of co-curricular and enrichment activities, allowing students to showcase their talents in all areas.

The department is superbly resourced with professional facilities for sound recording, a Mac Suite for composition, a wide variety of instruments and a broad peripatetic music programme, as well as purpose-built classrooms to encourage and display students’ creativity.

As such this is a superb opportunity for an aspiring, imaginative and inspirational leader to join a highly creative and dynamic environment. You will be determined to make Music a leading light within the school community.

Requirements:   

Essential 

• A high quality degree with Music as the sole or significant focus    
• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent  
• Minimum 3 years’ experience of GCSE and A Level  
• Strong subject knowledge and sheer enthusiasm for the subject that you are ready to share with our staff and students
• Experience in teaching Music Technology is advantageous
• Able to teach consistently inspirational lessons and a track record/ability to deliver results     
• Experience of running music clubs, assemblies and productions is essential    
• A commitment to the well being and pastoral care of all students within their care    
• Able and willing to make a broader contribution to school life    
• Innovative, creative and positive mindset
