Head of Music  (Click here for Job Description )

Start Date: August 2020

Closing date for applications: 28 November 2019

We are seeking a Head of Department who has the drive, commitment and creativity to ensure all students are engaged and challenged in a range of musical activities.  The Head of Music is responsible for all Secondary curricular and co-curricular music activities.  The school has excellent structures and practice in place for the future Head of Department to build upon.  Music is a critical part of the school curriculum.  All students study music at KS3 and it is also offered at IGCSE and IB Diploma level.  More than this, music is part of the fabric of the school.  Music takes many forms through the enrichment programme and various student led performances from informal rock band concerts to musicals to classical music concerts.

The school has a well-respected music scholarship programme specifically aimed at musicians of the highest caliber.  Many of these scholars and other students take part in a range of performances for the school but also participate in many local, regional and global competitions.  Some of our students also go on to study music at a higher education level and grow into professional musicians.  It is important to note that music at Regent's is not limited to its scholars.  Our new Head of Music would be expected to develop a wide range of opportunities for all students to explore their musical interests and to perform publicly.

A broad skill base in terms of music knowledge as well as leadership and management is essential.  The ideal candidate will have a clear vision for music and be able to demonstrate strategic planning and have sound interpersonal skills.  The Head of Music will need to work closely with the Head of Primary music, the music teacher, peripatetic music teachers, our Yamaha partners and our local and regional community.  Regent’s Secondary School music facilities include 2 main classrooms, a number of practice rooms, and a purpose-built recital room. We have a wide range of instruments and equipment to support classical, contemporary and world music teaching and performing.

Please also note that all applicants

- must have QTS or equivalent

- are subject to thorough scrutiny including DBS or similar check

Application process:

This can be completed through the TES portal.  Alternatively, a letter of application and completed application form can be sent to Mr Peter Hogan, Principal, at jobs@regents.ac.th . Do attach a CV. Full details of the application process and other information can be found on our  school website. Interviews will take place via Skype on a rolling basis with the Head of Secondary and/or face-to-face with the Principal in Bangkok or London.  The school reserves the right to appoint a suitable candidate at any time.
