Job overview

We are looking for an exceptional leader to join our team. If you are an outstanding music teacher looking for an opportunity to make your mark in transforming a school with huge capacity for improvement, this is the perfect opportunity for you.

The school is under new leadership and joined united learning in october. This position provides the ideal opportunity for an ambitious and dynamic middle leader with vision to help shape an ethos of care, respect, high achievement and challenge. The last ofsted inspection in 2015 judged the school as ‘requiring improvement’ but the school has already started its journey of rapid progress and we are confident in being an outstanding school in the future.

As head of music you will be responsible for the teaching and learning, outcomes and continuous development of the department. You can also expect to play a strategic leadership role in the academy’s future as this is a position we feel is crucial to our transformational journey. The leadership team at the totteridge academy strongly believes in giving autonomy to outstanding middle leaders and is always open to creative and innovative ideas.

At the Totteridge Academy we believe that the best middle leaders are continuously striving to improve. We are committed to developing our people and, as part of the largest group of academies and independent schools, we offer unrivalled professional development and career progression.

This is an exciting time to join the Totteridge Academy; if you share our high expectations and are passionate about making a difference then we look forward to receiving your application.

Please contact Donna Abel (donna.abel@tta.org.uk) for an application form and job description. Completed application forms should be sent to donna.abel@tta.org.uk by Friday 3rd February.

The Totteridge Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all who work at the school to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

About The Totteridge Academy

Located in Barnet, The Totteridge Academy is a co-educational secondary academy with a diverse community of 600 pupils and a culture of high expectations and varied opportunities. It has the potential to go through very rapid improvement. In a modern building with unrivalled access to the green spaces surrounding the school, The Totteridge Academy has exceptional capacity for future expansion.

The school is currently going through a period of transition with the support of United Learning and provides the ideal position for an ambitious and dynamic leader with vision to create an ethos of care, respect, high achievement and challenge. It is well-placed to make rapid improvement in a context of growing demand for secondary places.

The last Ofsted inspection in 2015 judged the school as Requiring Improvement, and every support will be given to the successful candidate in order to ensure the school is recognised as at least ‘good’ at the next full inspection. United Learning is committed to supporting the Principal with the expertise of Dame Sally Coates, our Director of Academies - South, as well as Education Advisors and a dedicated team of business partners.
