About the role

The British School of Nanjing is looking to appoint an exceptional teacher to join our talented team. Reporting to the Head of Senior School, you will be part of a highly dedicated team of teaching professionals. We’re looking for the right blend of energy, enthusiasm and experience, and a passion for teaching and learning that embraces change and innovation as well as ensuring consistency and continuity. We’ll look to you to promote high expectations for our students, designing learning activities that are aligned to our school’s curriculum and creating a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved.

The Head of Music is a also a member of the Middle Leadership Team. They lead the strategic and operational workings of the department and are given significant autonomy to oversee and successfully deliver on their departmental goals. Join our fast-paced international environment, and you will deliver and manage UK National Curriculum including IGSCE and an ambitious programme that aims to make a musician of every child in the school. You will challenge your students and department to set ambitious targets for themselves and seek out and implement innovative teaching practices to enhance the student experience and outcomes within your subject.

About you

Able to adapt quickly to our fast-paced international environment, you will bring a degree, a recognised teaching qualification and teaching experience. Committed and creative, you will be reflective on your own teaching and student outcomes, seeking out and implementing new ideas and innovative practice to raise achievement. Keen to collaborate and share your expertise, you will be a fitting ambassador for the school. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students.

Location and Facilities

In January 2016 we moved to our new and modern Mountain View campus which is located south of Nanjing city. It is a 30-minute drive from the centre (Xinjiekou) and sits nestled on a quiet residential street at the foot of Cuiping Mountain at the boundary of the Jiangjun National Park.

Views from the campus overlook the new outdoor sports and play areas and the forested mountains beyond. The school is in close proximity to prominent expatriate residential areas.

The Future
