DUCKS (Dulwich College Kindergartens)

DUCKS caters for 728 enthusiastic learners aged between 2 and 7. We use an enquiry approach based on the English National Curriculum to develop the depth of academic knowledge, as well as the life skills and mindset needed to prepare students for the best possible successes in the future. We want children to leave DUCKS as motivated, independent and collaborative learners. Everything we do is underpinned by a culture of safety and wellbeing for all members of the community. 

Our curriculum values a breadth of disciplines that is taught through a concept driven approach. For their musical education, DUCKS children take part in weekly choir sessions as well as class based music lessons taught by a team of two DUCKS music teachers.

The Role 

Head of Music (Early Years)  

DUCKS is seeking an outstanding Head of Music for an August 2022 start to lead our DUUCKS music programme.   Music is a central part of Dulwich College (Singapore) life. The DUCKS music department consists of the Head of DUCKS music and a DUCKS Music Teacher.   The DUCKS Head of Music works closely with their counterparts in Junior and Senior School as well as the College Director of Music to develop inquiry curriculum development across the College, coordinate whole College musical events, and manage the budget. 

The new DUCKS Head of Music will be an experienced or aspiring leader who can combine a proven track record of outstanding Early Years aged music teaching with significant musical experience beyond the classroom. In addition to being very proficient in choral, and as a pianist themselves, they will have the passion and ability to lead and inspire all DUCKS students and colleagues to grow music further. For example, the successful candidate will creatively seek opportunities for children to perform, irrespective of ability, build community and parental engagement further, and work with year group teaching teams to co-plan and deliver cultural performances embedded within the wider curriculum.  

As such we are seeking a highly committed team player with the drive, energy and passion to ensure that every child in DUCKS can thrive musically and creatively. The successful candidate will also contribute to the wider development of this forward-looking school, seeking opportunities to extend themselves and their colleagues. Applicants must be willing to lead by example and play a full part in the College’s pastoral care and extra-curricular programme.

The IGCSE programme is uniquely taught for three years from Years 9 to 11, while Years 12 and 13 follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
