Required April 2020
Salary MPR/UPR +TLR 2B (£4670)
This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding committed teacher of Music to lead a small and successful department to ensure that every student makes outstanding progress and attains highly.
Manningtree High School is a popular, successful, semi-rural secondary school with a strong community feel. We are a mixed, fully comprehensive school serving the local area and work closely with primary and post-16 partners as well as other local secondary schools. The school is set in a pleasant location only 10 miles from the centre of Colchester and close to the Suffolk border. We currently have around 850 11-16 students on roll.
We are looking to appoint a dynamic and dedicated Head of Music to start in April 2020. The Music Department at Manningtree consists of a Head of Department and one other part-time teacher.
Applicants should be enthusiastic and ambitious for their students and the school. We offer GCSE music and a high proportion of students participate in music including peripatetic tuition. Applicants should also possess a genuine enjoyment for school life and be willing to play a part in the extra curricular activities of the school.
The school holds academy status and offers an excellent induction and ongoing staff development. We are part of Alpha Multi Academy Trust which has a sixth form provision. Our students are well behaved and motivated and examination results are very good.
As a school, alongside academic success, we emphasise the importance of developing the whole person and developing a tremendous sense of community spirit.
We can offer you:
• A community feel in a pleasant semi rural location only 10 miles from the centre of Colchester and only an hour on the train to London
• Excellent facilities, with more building works currently underway
• Polite and courteous students
• Refreshments provided by the school
• Excellent professional development programme
• A strong and dedicated team to work with.
We would be delighted to hear from you if you can contribute to our future success in music and build on the considerable success and enviable reputation music has in the community.
Manningtree High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants for positions at our school must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Criminal Records Bureau.
To arrange a visit please contact Carol Sinclair, Director of Operations at the school.
Closing date: 9am 27th January 2020.
