Tes is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational Head of Music on a full-time permanent basis from January 2022. The school are open to accepting applications from exceptional NQTs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a heavily subscribed school that in 2017 moved into its new multi-million-pound facility. The school are moving rapidly towards its aspiration of being 'Outstanding' and are now seeking professionals of the highest order to join them in their creation of something special.

The school are looking for a strong practitioner with a commitment to continuing professional development to lead their Music department. Music makes a significant contribution to the school's vast enrichment programme and works with feeder primary schools. The successful candidate would be experienced to teach up to GCSE. 

Some Key Responsibilities:

  • Raise standards of attainment and progress at every key stage in music
  • Lead the Department with a clear vision and demonstrating quality first teaching
  • Plan with colleagues for the development of the department and to write the improvement plan within the framework of the Academy’s improvement plan and evaluate progress against this
  • Ensure that the aims of music schemes of learning and the knowledge, skills and attitudes to be imparted to students through the Department, are in keeping with the general aims of the Academy
  • Maintain and develop schemes of learning, within the framework of the National Curriculum and the requirements of examination boards, working collaboratively with the whole team

The Successful Candidate:

  • Good honours degree in a related subject
  • Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience teaching across the key stages
  • Passion for your subject 
  • Experience in continually improving teaching practice to increase student achievement and progress
  • An ability to lead by example
  • Effective team worker and leader
