This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a successful and popular 11-19 inner-city comprehensive school. The Post 

You will be leading the Music team where we expect you to continue current successes and further develop the profile of Music both within the curriculum and through extra-curricular activities. You will be supported throughout by a strong leadership team who are ambitious for every student and every staff member. You will line manage an excellent teaching team and oversee the significant numbers of students taking GCSE and A Level Music.   

You 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Have a vision for teaching Music and the skills to fulfil that vision 
  • Proven success teaching Music at GCSE level 
  • Proven success teaching Music at A level 
  • Experience of leading Music performances across a school 
  • Have the creativity, experience, determination, organisational and teambuilding skills to drive the continued development of this team and the future success in this subject for every one of our students 
  • Want the very best for and from every student and every member of staff  
  • Be ambitious for their future career.

About Stoke Newington School & Sixth Form

Welcome to Stoke Newington School & Sixth Form, an excellent 11-19 comprehensive school. Our school has a great reputation and has strong longstanding relationships with the community. During our recent Ofsted inspection (July 2022) the school was recognised as continuing to be a Good school. There were many strengths highlighted in the report including;

“Pupils are proud of the diverse nature and inclusive ethos of their school. Enthusiastic and committed teachers make lessons interesting for pupils”, and “teachers have strong subject knowledge and are passionate about their subjects”.

Stoke Newington School is situated in the stunning area of Stoke Newington, Hackney. We are a one-minute walk from the picturesque Clissold Park, and a two-minute walk from Church Street, which has a number of restaurants and cafes, as well as charity shops and boutiques. Transport links are good – with Stoke Newington and Canonbury overground stations, and Finsbury Park underground station all within 20-minute walks. Bus links are also excellent.
