We are looking for a dynamic Head of Music who will help ensure that music becomes a routine feature of the culture of our school. Our whole-school curriculum model holds both music and the performing arts more generally in high esteem, and we consider them to be essential components of a broad, rich and diverse curriculum. We have made a considerable investment in instrumental music tuition (in partnership with the Havering Music School), with a view to embedding the experience and practice of music amongst our student body. All GCSE music students receive free instrument lessons and other year groups are subsidised by the school. This investment is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.

This is an exciting time to be joining Hornchurch High School as we have new and exciting plans for the near future.

We offer excellent training, exciting links with other school partners and provide opportunities for personal development. We have a vibrant work place with friendly, supportive colleagues and an excellent work/life balance. Both ECTs and experienced teachers are welcome to apply.

We are an aged 11-16 mixed comprehensive with good pupils, supportive parents and an excellent staff. We welcome visits to the school and if you would like to arrange a tour or have any subject related questions please contact Ann Tyler on 01708 691441 or email atyler@hornchurchhigh.com

If you think you could be the right person for us, please complete the application form which is available on Tes.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION – HORNCHURCH HIGH SCHOOL

Hornchurch High School is a popular and successful 11-16 mixed comprehensive, a member of the Partnership Learning Trust. We believe in ‘Excellence for All’. We were formerly called The Albany School but changed our name in September 2018.

Hornchurch High School has an innovative curriculum that ensures students experience a wide range of subjects and opportunities in and outside of the classroom, as well as a new pastoral structure to support our students and their families.  We believe that learning should be engaging and that students should develop as independent learners guided by their teachers. We have new and exciting plans for the near future as we head towards an outstanding judgement from Ofsted.

We take great pride in our relationships with the local community and the other schools and colleges in the area. It is these positive partnerships that enable us to offer our students a variety of educational experiences. We have a rich after school provision for students providing a wide variety of clubs and activities.

Hornchurch High School is a place of learning for all and includes staff as well as students. Continued professional development and training for staff happens on a regular basis with our partner schools. Staff can choose a personalised series of courses to help them develop as individuals which has a positive impact.

Relationships amongst colleagues are pleasant, supportive and good humoured with staff socialising as a body. A great deal of personal commitment has been devoted by colleagues to establishing both the school and individual departments and the resultant pride and sense of achievement are evident in the ethos of the School.
