Head of Music

SJI International seeks to employ a outstanding Head of Music. The Head of Music will work to ensure high quality music learning outcomes for children by providing teaching and learning best practices within the framework of the school’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, Culture, and the International Primary Curriculum.
 

Key responsibilities include:
  *Overseeing and supervising the growth and development of the Music Department ensuring a balanced experience for pupils in all aspects of the music activities available
  *Organising and planning the music timetable to include elite opportunities, co-curricular and practice sessions and clubs
  *Writing and amending Department policy documents
  *Undertaking reviews of the Department’s performance
  *Undertaking reviews of the department members and guiding their professional development
  *Line managing music peripatetic staff and overseeing the provision of peripatetic music lessons
  *Proposing events and dates on the school calendar
  *Organising and overseeing all musical events
  *Working closely with the Head of Performing Arts to ensure a high quality musical theatre production
  *Liaise with the School Administration to provide music for whole school assemblies and services.

Additional Requirements 

For all teaching posts the successful candidates will have a good first degree in their teaching specialism, a recognised teaching qualification and a proven track record as inspirational teachers.  Significant training and development opportunities are available for teachers (both in-house and through external providers) and the desire to take part in and contribute to collaborative school and personal development is essential.
