We are looking for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Head of Music Technology to join this very successful and thriving Music Department. The position is for a full time teaching position in charge of Music Technology.

The Department has a brand new building that offers three bespoke classrooms and practice rooms with new equipment and instruments. Each classroom has new iMac computers with new keyboards and Logic X. There is a separate studio with recording space that has a range of recording equipment and resources. Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to come for an informal visit to see the school and in particular, the wonderfully resourced Music department. Below is a link to a promotional video for our Visual & Performing Arts Faculty (access also via the school website):

The Department offers a wide range of courses: Music Technology and Music A-Level at KS5 and NCFE Level 2 in Music Technology and GCSE Music at KS4. Results are consistently outstanding and well above national average. The Performing Arts is at the centre of the school’s ethos and the school offers a LS3 Scholarship programme, where one class in each year receives additional Music lessons each week. The school also has many students learning instruments with a fantastic team of visiting peripatetic teachers. Extra curricular provision is at the heart of this Department and provision includes: three choirs, a jazz band, orchestra, and Rock School. Students have the opportunity to perform at large-scale concerts and events each year both in and outside of school.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is committed to inspiring and motivating students through their innovative and engaging teaching. There is scope for the right candidate to develop their own extra curricular ensembles and teach across all Key Stages including the Performing Arts provision both in Music and Music Technology. This role is suitable for a teacher with experience of teaching outstanding music lessons across all Key Stages including Music Technology at A-level.

Hollyfield is a beautiful school set in the Surbiton area of Surrey, with great transport links to central London, which enables our staff and young people to take full advantage of the wealth of opportunities that London provides.

Hollyfield is a very happy, successful and ambitious school that puts student achievement and wellbeing at its heart.

In April 2020 we were judged by Ofsted to be ‘good’: ‘School leaders are keen to ensure all pupils achieve their best. Pupils respond well to leaders’ high expectations. There is a distinct sense of community in the school. Pupils grow in confidence and learn to work together well as a result.’

We are part of the ‘Every Child, Every Day’ Multi Academy Trust and have strong relationships with our Trust partners. We are very excited about the future and the opportunities the Trust will bring for staff.

The successful candidate will meet the following essential criteria:

● the ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 (including Music technology A-Level)
