Job overview

Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site. We are easily accessible from the motorway network and with approximately 750 students aged from 3 to 18.

We are seeking an inspirational Head of Netball, who will be a full-time PE teacher, to build on the strong participation and performance foundations that already exist within the games at the School, with effect from 1st September 2018.

We wish to appoint an outstanding Head of Netball with a clear philosophy for the development of Netball in an independent day school within a competitive city. This is an exciting opportunity that has arisen due to the promotion of our current Head of Netball to a Head of Girls’ games post at another school.

Ideally, candidates will have played Netball to a high level themselves and will have a proven track record in coaching across the age and ability range, as well as extending the elite. The candidate should hold a minimum of a level 2 coaching qualification.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to build on the progress of the outgoing Head of Netball by formulating and implementing a developing vision for the game of Netball in a school with a strong sporting reputation both locally and nationally, and with some excellent facilities which continue to be upgraded. Our Netball courts have recently been refurbished and planning is underway to upgrade our indoor facility to match our ambitions for sport at Colston’s.

The Head of Netball will work closely with the Director of Sport to create an ambitious short and long-term development plan to ensure girls all our pupils have the best possible opportunity to progress within the sport. It would be looked on favourably if the successful candidate had a good coaching knowledge of other sports.

Interviews will take place on Friday 16th March 2018.

Colston’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and the successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced disclosure through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
