Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty-acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site. We are easily accessible from the motorway network and with approximately 750 students aged from 3 to 18.
We are seeking an inspirational Head of Netball, who will be a full-time PE teacher, to build on the strong participation and performance foundations that already exist within the game at the School. This post is to cover maternity leave and is therefore offered on a temporary contract that is expected to run from part way through the Summer Term, 4th May 2020, for up to one year.
Ideally, candidates will have played Netball to a high level themselves and will have a proven track record in coaching across the age and ability range, as well as extending the elite. The candidate should hold a minimum of a level 2 coaching qualification.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to build on the progress made to date by formulating and implementing a developing vision for the game of Netball in a school with a strong sporting reputation both locally and nationally, and with some excellent facilities which continue to be upgraded. Our Netball courts have recently been refurbished and planning is underway to upgrade our indoor facility to match our ambitions for sport at Colston’s.
The Head of Netball will work closely with the Director of Sport to create an ambitious short and long-term development plan to ensure girls all our pupils have the best possible opportunity to progress within the sport. It would be looked on favourably if the successful candidate had a good coaching knowledge of other sports.
As a member of the Physical Education Department, the successful candidate will also continue to drive the high standards of examination PE in support of the Head of PE. Examination PE is highly subscribed at Colston’s with pupils studying GCSE PE (AQA), A Level PE (AQA) and BTEC Sport and Exercise Science (Level 3). You should therefore also be an outstanding classroom practitioner with excellent subject knowledge. Previous examination success in teaching either Key Stage 4 or 5 examination PE would be advantageous and highly desired.
You will receive a competitive salary and other benefits include free lunches during term time, free on-site parking, use of the school’s gym facilities. The school also offers a discount on school fees for staff at the school.
