Job overview

The link between low income and low academic attainment is greater in the UK than almost any other developed nation. Children eligible for free school meals are less likely to get good GCSEs and go on to higher education. This makes it more likely they will struggle throughout their lives, widening social inequality. It’s a cycle that we’re determined to break.

This role will develop and implement all aspects of the Network Development strategy, including; how we engage ambassadors in all roles and regions through inspirational communications across all channels. You will also be implementing how we develop high-impact, largely self-sustaining networks in the areas that need them most. As well as looking at how we monitor and measure the success of our work with both the broader ambassador community and the networks within and beyond it.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in alumni mobilisation, be experienced in building successful, growing and self-sustaining networks, be a strategic thinker, an effective project manager, a strong line manager and an excellent communicator. We expect the ideal candidate to be skilled in using research to inform approach to building networks. They will be able to demonstrate a proficient ability to develop projects using best practice project management tools and techniques all whilst being able to monitor the implementation of multiple projects

The day when no child’s future is limited by their background is coming, yet, there is still more to be done. Join us and help us ensure every child in the UK has a fair shot at their ambitions.

Teach First is an independent educational charity, Reg. No. 1098294, established in 2002 to directly address the problem of educational disadvantage.  Now in its eighth year, Teach First has already changed the lives of thousands of young people. Working with a range of partner organisations Teach First harnesses the energy, enthusiasm and drive of exceptional graduates to provide leadership, motivation and, above all, inspirational teaching in challenging schools across England, through a two year Leadership Development Programme.  The Programme combines working, qualifying and training as a teacher with leadership development training, coaching and mentoring, and a range of networking and internship opportunities. Beyond the two-year Programme, Teach First works to empower, equip and mobilise its ambassadors (alumni) with the skills, tools and networks they need to support the Teach First mission by driving forward sustainable change in education from both inside and outside the classroom.

Teach First is currently ranked 8th in the coveted league of Times Top 100 Graduate Employers – the highest ranked charity in Britain, and was the Charity Awards Education and Training Charity of the Year 2009. The organisation currently has 160 employees across the country with an annual operating budget of over £12 million. We rely on voluntary donations from companies and foundations and other sources to continue our work.  We also receive support from the government and uniquely have been identified by all three political parties in their election manifestoes as an initiative they each wish to support and expand.
