Job Title: Head of PE
Responsible to: Assistant Head
Contract: Permanent, full time
Start Date: September 2025
We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead and manage our PE department across Key Stage 3 & 4. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring excellent outcomes for all pupils and fostering a love for health and physical activity.
It is an exciting time in the journey of our PE department as we look forward to the future plans for a new sports hall and the shaping of a new curriculum across the subject.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for leading, managing and developing the curriculum area at all Key Stages (3 and 4).
- Determine the vision and strategic development priorities for the PE department.
- Exercise leadership and management in respect of all members of the team.
- Responsible for monitoring aspects of pupil progress across the team.
- Organise, oversee and run a wide range of extracurricular sports and activities.
- Develop and enhance the teaching practice of others.
- Ensure the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curricular for pupils in accordance with the aims of the school and the curricular policies determined by the Governing Body and the Headmaster.
- Monitor and support the overall progress and development of pupils in PE.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Substantial experience teaching PE (Key Stage 3 & 4 core and GCSE) in a secondary school setting.
- Outstanding subject knowledge and the ability to inspire others.
- Be motivated and enthusiastic about contributing to the development of the school.
