Nord Anglia International School Shanghai, Pudong is a highly successful, school with a committed and inspirational team of teaching professionals at its heart. We are a close-knit community educating around 500 students representing over 50 nationalities. We are a high achieving international school where our results have continued to improve year on year across every Key Stage. We are non-selective and yet, in June 2020, we achieved 73% A*/A grades. Our Year 13 IB Diploma students achieved an average of 37 points, and 50% of our students achieved 40+ points. These levels of attainment have been consistent for over six years. On average, our students score seven points above the global average in their IB Diploma, as well as being offered and accepting places at the world’s top 30 universities. About the role

The successful candidate will be expected to support the delivery and drive the vision for the Performing Arts programme across Primary and Secondary. We are looking for an individual who has experience in delivering Dance and Drama to a variety of age groups including KS3, KS4 and 5 and are particularly interested in applicants who can also offer primary teaching or the ability to teach music. Individuals will have a passion for the Performing Arts and a desire to explore and deliver our specialist Juilliard curriculum as well as enthusiasm and experience in delivering an extracurricular programme. 

We’ll look to you to promote high expectations for our students, designing learning activities that are aligned to our school’s curriculum and creating a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved. You will foster an environment of respect and progress within the classroom, facilitating learning through activities that reflect a growth mindset and allow all students to appreciate and gain access to the Performing Arts.

About you

With the ability to create a classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, you will have a university degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers.

A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will also enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement, and personal investment within the classroom. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for China, including holding a bachelor’s degree, and have a minimum of two years teaching experience post qualifying.

Selection process

The closing date for applications is 31 January 2022, though we shall be conducting interviews on a rolling basis and reserve the right to make an appointment before the deadline.  Due to global travel restrictions, all interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams/video call.
