Head of Performing Arts

MPS/UPS + TLR2B (£4,530 Sept 18)

September 2019

External candidates must be Drama specialists

Performing Arts at St. Cuthbert Mayne School is an important component of our curriculum offer in KS3/4 and Sixth Form.

At a time when schools are reducing the opportunities for students to develop their creativity and ability to express themselves, we have protected and invested in Dance, Drama and Music. Our facilities are exceptional with a purpose-built Music suite with practice rooms, a Dance studio and a bespoke Drama studio.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a creative and dynamic individual to lead our Faculty of Performing Arts.

The successful applicant will be responsible for maintaining and developing the high profile that Performing Arts currently enjoys within school and the local community. This role also involves responsibility for monitoring and improving the quality of teaching and learning, assessment and feedback.

Education to degree level with QTS status is essential, as is recent experience of leading, or assisting with leading a department. This job requires an up to date knowledge and understanding of the curriculum and assessment across all key stages including Sixth Form, reporting and recording processes relating to performing arts, plus a clear understanding of the elements of outstanding teaching and learning.

St Cuthbert Mayne is a successful school serving the Christian community over a wide area of South Devon.  The current number of students on roll is 877, including 126 students in the Sixth Form. We are a Catholic and Church of England School who welcomes students from all or no faith backgrounds.

The latest Ofsted Inspection in November 2016 graded the school to be good, in every category. The statutory inspection of Anglican/Catholic Schools also conducted in November, graded the school to be good in all areas. Both reports can be found on the website.

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a faculty dedicated to supporting students to believe in their creative potential in Performing Arts. If you have what it takes we would love to hear from you.
