You would be joining an enthusiastic team with passionate and talented staff and so we are looking for a dynamic teacher and leader to take the role of Head of Physical Education from September 2018. We are seeking well-qualified candidates who will strive to achieve academic excellence by leading the team with motivation, enthusiasm and a commitment to creating a stimulating approach to teaching and learning from Year 7 to the Upper Sixth. You will be expected to teach across the full age and ability range, inspiring students to develop fully their aptitude for, and engagement with, physical education. You will pay particular attention to securing excellent outcomes and a clear vision for sharing best practice throughout the department.

Colston’s offers a wide and exciting sports programme, underpinned by a busy set of competitive fixtures in our core sports (Boys: Rugby, Hockey, Cricket. Girls: Hockey, Netball and Rounders). Our pupils also benefit from an ambitious elite athlete programme and we have a number of pupils who compete at a national and international level in a variety of sports from martial arts to tennis. The ability to coach and lead the development of one or more of our core sports is desirable, but not essential.

The Physical Education department has delivered excellent results at GCSE and through our Sixth Form Level 3 BTEC programme. Pupils and staff benefit from excellent sporting facilities, including: astro pitch; 7 rugby pitches; 6 tennis / 4 netball courts; sports hall; fully equipped gym; dance studio and squash courts.

The Head of Physical Education will report to the Director of the Faculty of Expressive and Performing Arts and will work in close collaboration with the Director of Sport. You will receive a competitive salary and other benefits include free lunches during term time, free on-site parking and use of the school’s gym facilities. The school also offers a discount on school fees for staff at the school.

A willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of this holistic school will be advantageous.
