The British International School, Lagos is one of Nigeria’s leading schools. Situated on a large purpose-built campus in the heart of one of Africa’s liveliest cities, the school offers a broad and balanced education to around 360 students aged between eleven and eighteen. The school is co-educational and accepts both day-students and boarders.

For September 2017, we seek to appoint an able and experienced practitioner as Head of Physical Education to lead a large and successful department. In terms of facilities we offer a multi-purpose hall, tennis courts, extensive playing fields and a recently opened swimming pool. The school participates in a large number of sporting competitions and tournaments each year in which our teams enjoy considerable success. A thriving house system also is at the heart of our sporting activity.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and positive teacher, who is able to work as part of a team and motivate others. He/she will be expected to teach Physical Education to Cambridge (CIE) IGCSE level and also to be willing and available to train and accompany teams to fixtures both within Nigeria and internationally. In terms of remuneration we offer a competitive sterling salary, free accommodation and utilities, full time domestic help, a return annual flight and assistance with healthcare.

Established in 2001, British International School, Lagos (BIS) is a co-education Independent international School located in the Nigerian city of Lagos. The school was founded to provide a British education to students aged 11-18.  From September 2021 the school will welcome primary aged pupils to its purpose built Junior School. The school resides on a 30-acre site and accepts both day and boarding pupils. Older pupils sit IGCSE/GCSE and A Level examinations with most continuing their education in the UK or North America. The curriculum at BIS is well supported by a range of modern academic and recreational facilities, including a 25-metre swimming pool, a fully equipped library, a basketball court, and an extensive modern residential area providing boarding to a large proportion of the school’s students.
