Job overview

Esher High School is an oversubscribed high performing school. We were delighted that our recent (March 2017) Ofsted visit recognised that we have worked hard and successfully to improve teaching and strengthen leadership at all levels. They found that our school continues to provide a ‘good’ education for our young people. We have enjoyed substantial investment in our facilities recently, which has improved the learning environment across the school. This includes 9 new science laboratories with Faraday demonstration labs, an auditorium for large group teaching, an integral greenhouse and a break out space for small group work.

We are looking for an aspiring leader to take individual responsibility for Physics. Those with a strong background in Biology would also be considered. The job will provide an excellent opportunity for an innovative forward looking teacher who is:-

  • Passionate about Science and able to inspire students
  • Able to lead and manage change
  • Highly motivated and enjoys working as part of a supportive team
  • Able to demonstrate a positive and creative approach in the classroom
  • Willing to promote and contribute to the full range of extra-curricular activities
  • Keen to share and promote the school’s vision of high standards and success for      all

A full induction programme is provided for all new staff and a commitment to continued professional development e.g. access to peer coaching, termly teachmeets & learning walks and bespoke personalised training.

We welcome early applications and will consider holding interviews before the closing date for strong candidates.

For an application pack please see the vacancies section at www.esherhigh.surrey.sch.uk or apply online to recruitment@esherhigh.surrey.sch.uk or telephone 01372 468068 ext 225.

About Esher Church of England High School

Our mission at Esher C of E High School is that every student will grow in character, spirit, knowledge and skills, mindful of their part in God’s creation. We strive for excellence in all that we do, in academic performance as well as personal development, in order that students and staff will fulfill their potential and be ready for future opportunities.

We will provide an environment that enables everyone to work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect, openness and trust.

Our Aim and Values

At Esher Church of England High School, our aim is to ensure that each student leaves with excellent qualifications, rich experiences and a growth mindset that will equip them to take their place as responsible and successful citizens in the wider world. Promoting excellence in all aspects of school life and fostering spiritual, cultural and moral awareness within a Christian ethos, we aim to encourage all of our students to develop as independent and co-operative learners.  Through developing students’ personal and social skills, we hope to prepare them as self-confident and highly motivated people who go on to succeed in whatever field they choose.

Our values are rooted in those of the Church of England’s for all church schools, but interpreted for our own unique setting and students.

These are:

  • Educating for wisdom, knowledge and skills
  • Educating for hope and aspiration
  • Educating for community and living well together
  • Educating for dignity and respect

As a Church of England School, our relationship with the Diocese of Guildford is essential. Not only does it help support our moral purpose, but it’s family of schools gives us a significant network from which we can grow leaders, encourage new members to the profession, and build on the strengths of individuals and teams within our community.

Enlighten Learning Trust (ELT) was formed as a Multi Academy Trust following the conversion of Esher Church of England High School to an academy in 2014. As a Trust, ELT aims to develop a vibrant partnership of non-selective primary and secondary schools, all united in one goal to provide the best possible learning experience and environment not only for our current children but also for the next generation of pupils.
