Job overview

Mark Hall Academy in Harlow is undergoing a transformation. We are the oldest secondary school in Harlow and by the Autumn of 2019 we will have the newest school building.

Our main building is being replaced by a state-of-the-art three-storey teaching and learning space, complete with dining room, assembly hall, drama space, technology rooms and specialised rooms for all our subjects.

Together with the Mark Hall Sports Centre, complete with floodlit astro turf and all-weather running track, and our separate art block, we will be fully equipped to offer state-of-the-art education to our students.

Our motto “Aspire, Endeavour, Achieve” encompasses everything we want to develop in our students. To support this, we are re-modelling our structure around three houses, each led by a progress leader and supported by faculties, subjects and tutor staff. Our student body is increasing by over 100 students a year, aiming for 1050 in total. We now need additional staff to join us in transforming the lives of our students.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of Physics to join us in September 2019. Applications for part-time hours will also be considered. Please refer to the attached application pack for further information about the role.

For more information and to apply online, please visit the Academy Transformation Trust careers page.

Closing date: Friday, 5 April 2019.

Interviews will be held on a rolling basis.

About Mark Hall Academy

Mark Hall Academy has now moved to a state-of-the-art new campus offering truly twenty-first century facilities for teaching and learning. This is an exciting new beginning for us – and for your career.

We’re an exceptionally friendly school, where students and staff love to work hard and achieve great things together. Self-improvement is at the heart of everything we do – we excel in sport, drama and community engagement, supported by a lively and stimulating programme of extracurricular activities.

As our Principal puts it, “As an academy, we will equip all our students with the skills, attributes and qualifications to progress to college, university, employment and happy, successful lives. Education has the power to open doors and transform lives, and that is what we aim to do here.”

Having been rated Good by Ofsted at our last inspection, we’re on our way to Outstanding. In the words of Ofsted:

“Leaders, managers and governors have improved the school significantly since it opened as an academy. Their commitment to raising standards is clearly having an impact. Pupils’ behaviour and attitudes towards their learning have been totally transformed since the school’s opening.”

To discover what sets us apart, you need to visit the academy for yourself. Please get in touch to make an appointment to meet our Principal.
