Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a new or experienced leader to join a successful and ambitious Science team.

Lymm High School is a well-established, 11-18 school with over 1950 students (360 in the 6th form) and exceptional resources, including 28 acres of beautiful grounds, a swimming pool, leisure complex and our own residential centre in Anglesey. Rapid and sustained improvement over the past few years has led to some excellent results (Progress 8 of 0.54 in both 2019 and 2022) with basics measures for 2022 of 38% 9-7 and 86% 9-4. and a very positive Ofsted inspection a couple of months ago.

Lymm High School is also a lovely place in which to work; in addition to our good fortune with our physical surroundings, staff are exceptionally positive, committed and supportive. The potential here is immense and we are determined to keep moving forwards.

Science results have been consistently strong over a number of years, with a Science Value Added score of 0.5 or better. Physics is also a popular subject with healthy numbers opting to take Separate Science at KS4 as well as consistent numbers taking Physics at KS5. The department is strong and supportive, with a good blend of experience.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking leader to work closely with the Head of Science to further develop this already excellent department. Having previous leadership experience is an advantage, but is not essential. We are interested in your leadership skills and potential as much as your experience in the role.

If, prior to submitting an application, you would like to see for yourself why we believe this is such a fabulous school in which to work and why the post itself is so exciting, then do not hesitate to contact us to arrange a phone call or a visit. Contact recruitment@lymmhigh.org.uk with any queries.

Headteacher

Mr Gwyn Williams

Values and vision

Lymm High School aims for its students to: be successful and achieve their full potential; enjoy learning and become independent lifelong learners; become socially responsible citizens and members of the community; and become confident and capable individuals.

In order to achieve these aims, the school has three simple, underlying priorities for action: an uncompromising focus on high academic standards and excellent teaching and learning; encouraging participation in a wide-ranging programme of extra-curricular activities and opportunities to develop leadership skill; and promoting the importance of being decent, socially responsible members of the community

Ofsted report (February 2018)

“Pupils feel safe and secure in a school that is characterised by harmonious relationships. There are strong relationships between adults and pupils alike. Teachers have high hopes for pupils and expect the very best from them. This is a school where everyone is accepted for their individuality and uniqueness. It is a school that aims to ensure that inclusivity and scholastic ambition intertwine seamlessly.

Pupils are extremely positive about their learning experiences…. (they) also benefit from an extensive extra-curricular programme and strong spiritual, moral, social and cultural development (and) recognise that their teachers and other adults go ‘the extra mile’ for each of them. For these reasons, pupils reciprocate the care, guidance and support that they receive with extremely high standards of behaviour. They are an absolute credit to the school.”
