Welcome to Fulham School

I am delighted to offer you a warm welcome to Fulham School. I am personally very proud of each and every part this school and the all-round, inclusive and forward-thinking education you will find here.

School life at each stage is packed with a diverse range of activities so pupils can find out what they’re passionate about and each day is tailored to bring out the best in them. This is about putting pupils in the driving seat; as curious individuals with the power and potential to develop and learn from their environment and the relationships they build with others in Nursery; raising awareness of (and confidence in) core skills in the Prep so that pupils have not just the resilience, but also the ambition, to seek out challenge and opportunity as they take more control of their future options; strong traditional core education at the Senior level  complemented by an array of wider activities and innovation that supports their next steps to universities, work and beyond. We provide life skills, the ability to make connections between and beyond subjects and the opportunity to work together to achieve more than any individual can alone, all in a modern and future-looking learning environment; these are the things that make us distinctive. Moreover, we are ideally situated for pupils to take advantage of the museums, galleries, theatres and other resources that London has to offer. All of this is enhanced by the educational opportunities available through the Inspired network and its meaningful connections for both pupils and teachers.

We offer a broad education where diverse abilities are recognised, celebrated and given fullest expression; this has been at the core of our ethos since the School was founded. Our curriculum encourages the development of creative, problem-solving individuals with tenacity, kindness and secure self-worth; Fulham has always set out to bring out the best in every pupil and we are committed to continuing this unusually nurturing culture.

We have high expectations at Fulham and this, in turn, encourages our pupils to be involved and inquisitive and to show ambition both in and out of the classroom; this type of confidence, social awareness and open approach to life-long learning is needed to succeed not just in their next academic steps, but in a fast-changing and increasingly challenging world.

Life at Fulham Pre-Prep is fun.  Our primary aim is to have pupils who are happy and engaged, who develop a love of learning including the skills of collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and communication, alongside a resilience that enables them to learn from challenges and use this to achieve further success.

Against a backdrop of testing and assessment in London Pre-Prep schools, my colleagues and I have a rare opportunity to offer pupils the chance to guide their own learning, offering a holistic and dynamic curriculum delivered on a daily basis.

On its own dedicated site our Pre-Prep offers pupils, from their first day in Nursery to the end of Year 2, an opportunity to experience a breadth of education that encompasses a creative curriculum. The fundamentals are rooted in the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage but also go much further, with investigative and enquiry opportunities, alongside many specialist teachers bringing their own magic of other subjects, such as sport, ICT or the creative arts.

The staff body is one of the school’s greatest strengths and I am delighted to lead a team who care deeply about our pupils and are fully committed to ensure that every child fulfils their potential.  If you are interested in joining our fabulous family, I very much look forward to meeting you.

Learning is life’s greatest adventure and at Fulham Prep we want every child to arrive each day with a sense of joy, excitement and wonder at what lies ahead. School should be fun and our innovative curriculum, relaxed and happy ethos and excellent teachers, offer just that, in and beyond the classroom.

We want our children to find what they love and to feel inspired to explore those areas with open hearts and minds. That can happen because of our strong commitment to each individual and the school’s uniquely supportive environment in which all children feel valued and able to contribute on a daily basis.

When our pupils come to think of their future schools, they will face a dizzying array of options. Some will continue on to Fulham Senior. Others will seek places at a great variety of day or boarding schools. Wherever they go next, we want them to face their futures full of confidence and good heart, with dozens of adventures under their belts, with great friends, well-informed minds and with the intellectual confidence and resilience not only to take on the challenges ahead of them but to actively seek them out. Fulham Prep children are ready for anything.

We hope our website gives a flavour of life at Fulham Prep but there is no substitute for a visit in person to feel for yourselves what makes this such a special place to come to school. At Fulham Senior our stage of the pupils’ educational journey has a real future focus and you can sense the minute you walk through the doors of our fresh and modern campus in the heart of Fulham.

Pupils moving to the Seniors are already making choices about their options, be it GCSEs or IB, and we want all our pupils to excel in the areas that they care most about. However, we also know it is vital that they have a strong suite of life skills, plenty of resilience, independence of mind and confidence of spirit; they face changing and challenging futures in our fast-paced world and we see our role as creating a foundation for navigating that, in addition to enabling the next stage of their education. Our curriculum couples an excellent traditional education in core subjects with an array of wider activities that allow each individual to find their strengths and to grow in confidence. We seek to embed life skills: to develop the ability to make connections between and beyond subjects, to ignite the capability to think creatively, to enhance communication and collaboration and, alongside all of this, to embed an understanding that by working together, we achieve more than any individual can alone and ultimately, this is what will unleash the confidence to be ambitious.

Specialist teachers and support staff inspire our pupils to work to the limits of their potential and prepare them for the next steps in life as they also know more about themselves and develop a broad range of interests. Our close-knit, global community celebrates individuality, kindness, and initiative and works together to achieve more: theme weeks where all pupils collaborate, innovate and create; year-groups small enough that everyone properly knows everyone else, is exposed to opportunity and gets involved, but large enough to be challenged and drawn out; above all, personal attention, recognition and celebration from teachers who care deeply about every individual’s progress.
