The curriculum is enriched by the provision of Romanian, Hungarian, German, French and Spanish Language learning to indigenous students or to students belonging to the dominant minorities.

The Curriculum is all the learning and experiences, formal and informal, which RS provides for students. Our aim is always to give all students an education that is exciting and worthwhile, preparing them for life beyond school, and laying the secure foundations for lifelong learning.

In meeting these aims, RS follows the requirements of:

The RS curriculum is:

Accessible: The subjects are taught at a level appropriate to the age and the expected skills of our students. The admissions process indicates those potential students who will cope best with the curriculum. The use of a variety of approaches to teaching caters for students with a variety of learning styles.

Broad: The range of subjects offers teaching and learning in styles that enhance the analytical, creative, intellectual and physical development of our students.

Coherent: Embracing the different areas of learning and experience, so that these do not appear as disparate subjects, but are linked to develop a holistic approach to students’ personal and social growth.

Differentiated: The use of a variety of approaches to teaching caters for students with a variety of learning styles, and allows them to learn effectively.

Inclusive: All parts of the curriculum are available to all students.

Balanced: Ensuring that each area of learning and experience will be given appropriate attention in relation to the others and to the curriculum as a whole.

Relevant: Taking into account prior attainment and future needs, both in terms of progress within school and in the world beyond school.

The RS curriculum fosters students’ development:

  • Academically
  • Culturally
  • Physically
  • Socially
  • Spiritually

RS curriculum contains Core subjects in English, Mathematics and Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) as well as Foundation Subjects in IT, MFL (German, Spanish and French). PE is compulsory throughout all educational stages. Our students can also study social sciences (History, Business Studies, Economics and Geography) as well as subjects that develop creativity and technological skills (Art, Music and Drama).

Students’ moral, social and emotional skills (PSHEE, Every Child Matters; RE) are all catered for. An important role in students’ life-long training is played by their involvement in our community action plan, in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award programme, and local working experience programme.

RS curriculum is developed and enriched with optional courses and clubs in the after-school programme. A flexible timetable widens the choices available to students and enables them to follow a curriculum that is best suited to their interests, skills and needs.
