The British International School of Stavanger Gausel is a world International Baccalaureate School. We are currently recruiting a talented and inspirational Head of PYP for a one-year temporary post in the first instance, starting from 01 September 2020. You will be working as part of a highly motivated and collaborative team to offer a balanced curriculum that promotes the acquisition of key skills and behaviours through inquiry-based learning.  This position will involve working closely with the PYP coordinator in the implementation of the PYP curriculum throughout the department.  We work hard to create a very special learning experience for our students by employing inspirational teachers who respect every child and believe that whatever background or prior learning the child has, every child has the capacity to excel.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

A professional who:

Holds a valid teaching qualification from a recognised university and who has written and oral fluency in English 

Has leadership experience in a primary department

Will build positive relationships with all stakeholders

Will work with the The PYP Coordinator to be responsible for the development of the programme and the whole-school implementation of the programme

Will continue to maintain our high academic and behavioural standards in PYP

Endeavour to foster excellent home school communication

Will Build positive relationships with all members of the school community, showing positive attitudes to them

Will work closely with other senior managers to create an ethos within which all staff are motivated and supported to develop their skills and knowledge

Spearhead the development of a system for data collection and analysis of student data to track progress, inform planning, curriculum and articulation

Is comfortable with inquiry-based learning and concept driven teaching

Is familiar with these online platforms: Managebac, Seesaw, MyIB, IBIS

Role modelling collaborative practices within the department and across departments

Establish policies for achieving aims and objectives of the school

Coordinate substitution by interviewing and maintaining a pool of candidates and contacting them when required, following up the substitute when at school and setting the expectation for teachers to maintain a folder of substitute lessons

Seek training and continuing professional development to meet own needs

Demand ambitious standards for all pupils, instilling a strong sense of accountability in staff for the impact of their work on pupil outcomes
