Following the promotion of the existing head of primary school to overall head of another school, the French International School is seeking an inspirational and energetic person to lead our primary international stream. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, innovation and development throughout their career.

This is a new position, which will lead the primary international stream into its next exciting phase of development.  This is an opportunity for the candidate to shape the role and help lead the vision and strategic mission of the school, working closely with the Head of the International Stream as well as liaising with the Head of Secondary International.

We are seeking a Leader who can achieve these key objectives:

  • The overall leadership of the primary school reception-year 6
  • Strive to ensure high quality educational provision and academic excellence
  • Implement, monitor and evaluate curriculum, teaching and learning
  • Manage schedules, procedures and protocols to achieve best educational outcomes
  • Work closely with two deputy heads and teaching staff to create powerful learning environments and
  • support and develop staff through structured performance management and CPD
  • Demonstrate a deep professional knowledge of best international principles and practices of leading learning in a school
  • Promote a welcoming environment for all members of the community

  • Be able to lead the international primary stream leadership team

  • Be adept and skilled at fostering a collaborative approach amongst teachers;

About The French International School - Jardine's Lookout

Established in 1964, the French International School (FIS) is the oldest international school in Hong Kong and was one of the first schools in Hong Kong to offer the IB. It is a dynamic educational institution, which welcomes over 2,700 students from around the world. It offers both French and British-style curricula and is the largest French school in Asia.

FIS currently operates four campuses, three of which accommodate students in the International Stream. The two primary schools, one surrounded by greenery in Jardine’s Lookout and the other in a brand new campus by the sea in Tseung Kwan O.  This post will be based in Tseung Kwan O and Jardines campuses.

FIS is a private, not-for-profit organization. In the last five decades, it has grown from a small school with 35 students to one of the most renowned international schools in the region. Its students are from 40 countries speaking some 30 languages – it is a truly multicultural learning environment.

FIS operates two streams, French and International, under an overall Headmaster appointed by the AEFE. The French Stream follows a French curriculum and has approximately 2000 students. The International Stream follows an English and Mathematics curriculum broadly based on the English national curriculum and also IPC/IEYC thematic curriculum leading to IGCSE and then the International Baccalaureate in years 12 and 13. It currently has over 800 students registered.
