Head of Primary

Repton Bangalore opens in September 2018. In the same way as the renowned Repton School in the UK, established in 1557, is a leading independent school with high expectations and a tradition of excellence, we are aiming to bring the very highest possible educational standards to this booming city in India’s South. The brand new school is under construction on a 36 acre site situated in the Whitefield neighbourhood. This is a relatively new and bustling hub of development centred on local and ex-pat families often employed by global IT and electronics groups relocating to drive the country’s rapidly expanding technology sector. Bangalore is a large bustling metropolis transforming from Garden City to India’s Silicon Valley.

Currently in its initial phase of construction the attractive, modern, co-educational Primary School will open first along with an impressive, world-class Repton Sports facility. The Secondary phase and extensive boarding house will complete the K-12 campus by 2019. The school is also supported by 3 brand new bespoke pre-prep schools which are now operating across neighbouring suburbs. The curriculum will be EYFS then English National Curriculum leading ultimately into IGCSE and IB Diploma with the aim that students will progress to the world’s leading universities.

Our philosophy draws from 460 years of experience in education from the founding and partner school. The close interactive relationship with Repton UK is key and staff at both schools will enjoy shared training in addition to joint ventures to ensure the school’s reputation is enhanced and consolidated globally just as it is in other schools in the Repton family. The Bangalore school aims to be the best in class and build on Repton’s reputation for sports and performing arts, underpinned by a deep commitment to the individual needs and enthusiasms of each pupil.

The Position

An outstanding opportunity exists to help lead one of the most prestigious international schools in India. With a start date of April 2018 we are looking to appoint an outstanding person to lead the Primary School throughout its opening phase and beyond. The successful candidate should be passionate about student learning and have the drive and commitment to inspire our new students and new teachers. These professional attributes have to be combined with exceptional communication and leadership skills. The post will involve a prominent role in the school community. Resilience and a determination to deliver a shared vision will be key. The new head of Primary will work alongside the Founding Headmaster to appoint a talented team of staff initially from the UK and across the international schools community. Initial responsibilities will involve teambuilding, designing and assisting with induction and welcoming numerous new and potential parents to the new site with their children. Experience, energy , resilience and drive will be essential, especially in this locale where challenges and opportunities abound. The Head of Primary will be responsible to the Headmaster and the Board of Governors for all academic and managerial issues pertaining to the Primary School.
