About NACIS Shanghai

Founded in September 2016, NACIS Shanghai offers students a creative, challenging and rewarding learning experience. Students aged 6 to 18 years old are welcomed into our progressive and internationally minded school community. We offer a distinctive bilingual, blended learning program leading to the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Located in the Minhang District of Shanghai, the school has world class facilities that complement our innovative approach. We are just opening the second phase of our development and are the largest of the Nord Anglia schools in China.

Global academic results

The 2020-2021 school year was the strongest ever in terms of Nord Anglia Education’s academic results. For the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, our students achieved a 36.2 global point average and a 98% pass rate, with over 20 students earning a perfect score of 45. In the A-levels, our students achieved 65.4% of grades at A*-A, along with 83.7% at A*-B, with a group-wide pass rate of 99.4% and seven schools achieving a perfect 100% pass rate. In this year’s I/GCSE results, 59.6% of students achieved A*-A grades, with a group-wide pass rate of 89.5% and 13 Nord Anglia schools achieving a perfect 100% pass rate.

 

About the role

To offer leadership, inspiration and guidance to the primary school Performing Art department. The post holder must work effectively as a key member of the Primary Leadership Team in ensuring students academic progress.  

To Contribute significantly to school improvement / development planning and promote the learning priorities of the school development plan whilst promoting the wider aspirations and values of the school including the development of a high performance culture, for students and staff that is a core Nord Anglia Education expectation.


About you

With the ability to create a classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, you will have a university degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum. Receptive to feedback and ready to embrace change, you will be keen to share best practice with colleagues and peers. To lead a department, you will also have experiences of leading a department.

A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. Your strong motivation and communication skills will also enable you to create a feeling of energy, excitement, and personal investment within the classroom. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for China, including a bachelor’s degree, at least two years of subject teaching experiences, and non-criminal record.

Selection process

The closing date for application is February 18th 2022. Due to global travel restrictions, all interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams/video call. There will be three stages of interview, including a panel interview.

About NACIS Shanghai

NACIS Shanghai in Minhang, Shanghai, China, is a co-educational establishment catering for students aged 6-18 years. It follows the Shanghai National Curriculum, blended with other international teaching methods and philosophy, taught in Mandarin Chinese and English.

The school, which opened in 2016, is both a day and boarding school with the latter facility offering the capacity to host 180 students of varying ages.

Students attending NACIS will experience a multilingual environment where teaching of topics will be in both English and Chinese according to the content of their learning sessions. The school aims to expand its students’ horizons with a global perspective, choosing topics that will enable them to learn about the world around them, ensuring they benefit fully from their international experience.

Students transitioning from NACIS’s preparatory stage of learning into Grade 9 and 10, can take examinations in Mathematics, Science (biology, chemistry and physics), English language, Chinese and Humanities (geography, history, Global Perspectives or Business Studies). Optional subjects include modern foreign languages (Spanish and French), music, art and computer science.

Senior students from grade 10-12 benefit from independent study facilities to help stimulate both individual study and group work.
