Job Description:

Thames British School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Head of Primary School. The successful applicant will be responsible for the strategic leadership, management and academic performance of the Primary School.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Primary team, ensuring that staff are motivated, well-trained, and committed to delivering high-quality education to our students.
  • Conduct high-quality and engaging lessons that inspire and motivate students.
  • Implement and develop the Primary School strategic plan in line with the school's overall vision and mission.
  • Facilitate high planning, teaching, assessment and feedback standards.
  • Closely track the academic performance and behaviour of students, ensuring that standards and targets are met or exceeded.
  • Foster a culture of excellence in teaching and learning, ensuring that all staff have access to high-quality professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other leadership team members to ensure the school is delivering the best possible education to our students.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for parents and other stakeholders with regards to the Primary School.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with local community partners to promote the school and enhance student experiences.
  • Support the managing director and HR department in interviewing candidates for Primary teaching positions.
  • Ensure that the Primary School team adheres to all relevant school policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations, safeguarding, and child protection.


Requirements:

  • Full Primary School teacher certification in the UK or applicant’s native country (Bachelor of Education, PGCE, QTS or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a leadership position in an international school setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering outstanding academic results.
  • Understanding of the needs of the international student body and a commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
  • Ability to manage change and inspire staff to achieve excellence.
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge primary programme or an equivalent programme, such as the English National Curriculum, is essential.
  • Specific leadership and management qualifications (e.g. Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership/NPQSL/NPQH or similar) are desirable but not essential.
