Head of Primary School
St. George’s School seeks an inspirational individual to enhance and lead our flourishing Primary School, to begin in August 2019.
Having opened in September 2013, St. George’s School Munich has rapidly developed into a thriving community of around 450 pupils and 70 teachers. The school continues to grow, and as the school matures we expect to reach 800 pupils. The school’s ethos of combining an enriching curriculum with family orientated care makes the school a warm and engaging place to work and learn.
In September 2017, the school embarked on an exciting phase of its development, as it moved to a new, purpose-built campus located in the city. These premises provide first-class educational facilities for all ages and subject areas.
The school covers the age ranges 3 to 18 and is split into a primary and secondary school. The National Curriculum is taught throughout the school and we offer IGCSE qualifications to pupils in our Upper School. Students in the Sixth Form prepare the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
One of a group of three schools located across Germany, St. George’s offers the successful applicant an exciting range of opportunities for professional development and growth across the school group.
The school’s new campus is located in the area of Schwabing-Freimann, to the north of the city centre. The site enjoys good access to the U6 metro line, as well as the A9 motorway.
Germany’s third largest city, and the capital of the state of Bavaria, Munich is a dynamic and vibrant cultural centre, with a large and diverse international community. Situated on the northern edge of the Alps, Munich offers a high standard of living, as well as numerous opportunities for travel and outdoor pursuits.
Munich airport is located 30km from the school, with many daily flights to the UK, and high speed rail services connect Munich to a wide range of European destinations.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced primary school leader from August 2019.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic and inspirational individual with experience of leading teaching and learning in the primary school context. A firm belief in the school’s ethos and desire to realise these values in daily school life are essential. An understanding of the complexities of a vibrant primary department and how to manage and communicate successfully with different stakeholders is also a prerequisite We are looking for the right balance between experience, enthusiasm and a passion for education that will inspire our primary school community.
The primary school covers the age range 3-11, and incorporates three sections – Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Familiarity with the British education system is therefore essential. Experience of teaching in an international context is preferred, but not required.
Given the growing and developing nature of the school, flexibility and the desire to support colleagues across the whole school is expected. A strong ability to contribute to the rich pastoral and extra-curricular life of the school will also be an advantage.
