Nord Anglia Education

Nord Anglia Education is the world’s leading premium schools organisation. We are a fast-paced and growing family of 47 international schools in China, Europe, the Middle East, South East Asia and The Americas, providing outstanding education to approximately 45,000 students from preschool through to the end of secondary education. Our schools are united by one philosophy—we are ambitious for our students, our people and family of schools. This means that we want every student to achieve more than may have ever thought possible, which we ensure through personalised learning enhanced with unique global opportunities.

About Our School

Regents International School Pattaya is like no other school in Thailand. We provide unique learning opportunities far beyond the ordinary. We are an exciting, vibrant and inclusive school which has something to offer to every child and every family in our dynamic and diverse community.

We have approximately 1200 students aged from 2 to18, from 48 different countries, spread evenly across our Early Primary, Primary and Secondary schools, including around 70 boarding students. As both a day and boarding school we encourage our students to be ambitious in their learning and believe there is no limit to what they can achieve. We are the most successful school on the Eastern Seaboard with a long-established reputation over the past 20 years. Our students are successful because our approach encourages children to think for themselves, how to question, how to learn – skills that will last them for a lifetime.

Year after year we celebrate high academic results in the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and iGCSEs, maintaining consistently high results way above the world average. Our high expectations do not stop with academic success. We want our students to develop the courage and conviction to look at the world around them and act to make it a better place.

We recruit outstanding teaching staff, specialists in their field, who support each student to achieve to the best of their ability. Success takes many different forms and we celebrate them all; sportsmanship in competition, the courage to speak publicly on stage for the first time and making friends with children from many different countries and backgrounds. We also believe trying and failing are vital ingredients for success in every area of life.

We are also proud to be one of just 150 Round Square schools in the world. To become part of this select group of schools we have had to demonstrate how we support the six IDEALS of Internationalism, Democracy, Environmental awareness, Adventure, Leadership and Service to our local community and in our educational practice. We are very proud of the action our students take and our commitment to our local community partners.

Our school is located in a beautiful, rural area, surrounded by palm trees, just outside of Pattaya on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand. We are about 100km south of Bangkok and just a 90minute drive from Bangkok International Airport. Opened in 1994 we have a long-established reputation as one of the most sought-after international schools in Southeast Asia.

About Our Primary School

The Head of Primary leads an exciting, vibrant and creative team of fully qualified and experienced international educators, local Teaching Assistants and Support staff.

Little Lions – We are very proud of our courageous Little Lions (Parent & toddler group) who come to Regents from the age of one and a half to play, interact and develop so many skills.

Pre-Nursery, Nursery & Reception (age 2-5)- Follow the UK Early Years Foundation Stage with a focus on seven areas of a child’s learning and development:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

In practice, this means that at Regents our children enjoy fun activities
encompassing the indoor, outdoor and emotional environments. They will play and explore, be active and creative, develop language skills and become culturally aware. Developing early social skills is of great importance and children are provided with exciting opportunities which encourage the development of positive relationships.

Whether they are learning to swim in the school pool, sitting with a teacher for story time, exploring the natural world in our garden, or eating lunch with their classmates, our youngest children are learning valuable social and academic skills.

Year 1 & Year 2 (age 5-7) – Follow the UK Key Stage 1 National Curriculum and teaching and learning gradually becomes more formal over the two years.

Children are still provided with plenty of opportunities for practical, hands-on learning. The curriculum is broad and enriched with the principles of Global Citizenship. There is a strong focus on teaching in ways that promote and account for the stage of development of each individual child.

Each class has a highly-qualified teacher and a teaching assistant, supported by a team of specialists for Music, Drama, Physical Education and English as a Second Language. The classrooms are cheerful, stimulating and welcome – an international school environment where children feel safe and secure to learn.

Year 1 and 2 children explore all the core subjects: Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education, ICT, Design Technology, Library Skills, Thai Language and Culture, and Personal, Social and Health Education.

To help our children develop their language skills there is a strong focus on speaking and interaction, with an emphasis on role play to support topic and literacy lessons. All children receive Music and Drama lessons as part of the curriculum. The Year 1 pupils stage a full theatre production each year in our Globe Theatre, and all children are encouraged and supported to sing, dance and act in regular assemblies and concerts.

Children have high-quality Physical Education (PE) lessons every week that rotate around swimming, athletics, cross-country running, basketball, football, dance and gymnastics over the course of every term.

What students learn in the classroom is enhanced by trips which are linked to the topics they are studying. Specialist English language tuition is provided for pupils who are not native speakers, either in the classroom or in small specialists groups depending upon their ability. Formal and informal assessment of each pupil’s level of attainment takes place throughout the year to measure progress and help identify the next steps in learning.

Year 3, 4 5 & 6 (age 7-11) – Follow the UK Key Stage 2 National Curriculum. The principles and practices established for the younger age groups continue in Year 3, 4, 5 and 6: a broad and balanced curriculum, the creation of a positive and motivating learning environment, responsiveness to the attainment and progress of each student in class, and access to a wonderful range of facilities.

Our teachers focus closely on the specific learning needs of children of different ages to enable them to develop into advanced learners.

Our students continue to study the core subjects of Literacy (English), Mathematics, Science, Geography, History, Art and Design, Music, Physical Education (sport), ICT, Design Technology, Library Skills, Thai Language and Culture, and Personal, Social and Health Education.

From Year 3 children are able to study French, Spanish or Mandarin language for non-Thai nationals. At the end of Year 3 children are encouraged to choose one of the three languages to study from Year 4 onwards.

The curriculum has a topic-based approach, which ensures strong links are made between all subject areas. Our own Global Citizenship programme enriches the curriculum; each Year Group has a Community Partner with which they do service-based activities.Other academic activities are planned and offered which are also designed to extend and enrich the curriculum, including poetry recitals, mental maths quizzes and writing competitions. There are many extra-curricular activities.

School trips remain an extremely important part of Year 3 - 6 enrichment. From Year 3 we add additional challenge by introducing residential trips, on which the students spend one or more nights away from home.

Specialist English language tuition is provided for pupils who are not native speakers, either in the classroom or in small specialists groups depending upon their ability.

Informal and formal assessment of each pupil’s level of attainment takes place throughout the year.
