About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Professional and Higher Skills (Head of Department) based at the University Centre. The Head of Professional and Higher Skills (Head of Department) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of diverse curriculum including; Foundation Degrees/BA Hons/HND in Business, Media, Media-Make up, Psychology, Teacher Education and Construction. In addition to responsibilities for the oversight of a range of Adult Study Programmes such as Access to HE, Vocational Business, Counselling and AAT across all four levels. The Head of Professional and Higher Skills (Head of Department) will drive forward the department, create an outstanding learning environment and deliver excellent outcomes for students.

The successful candidate will be forward-thinking, creative and driven to provide the very best learning experiences for our students. They will ideally have a proven track record of outstanding teaching and learning within college based Higher Education. They will have experience of managing a diverse team to deliver successful outcomes and have sound knowledge of working successfully within a robust quality assurance framework.

The candidate should have experience of working with validating universities and awarding bodies and have a clear understanding of role played by the Office for Students in regulating Higher Education. In addition to remaining abreast of the latest developments such as the introduction of B3 performance indicators, Access and Participation and Attainment focuses.

The post will suit an outstanding individual with well-developed leadership skills and excellent communication and organisational skills. The successful candidate will be an inspirational practitioner and strongly committed to working with the College’s values and ethos.
