We are seeking a dynamic, committed, and innovative leader to take on the role of Head of PSHCE with a teaching responsibility for RE. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and shape the Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education (PSHCE) curriculum while also delivering high-quality Religious Education lessons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the development and delivery of the PSHCE and Citizenship curriculum, ensuring it aligns with safeguarding priorities, the local context, and whole-school strategic objectives.
  • Fostering a culture of aspiration by embedding British Values and the teaching of Protected Characteristics.
  • Providing leadership in developing careers education across the school, ensuring full alignment with Gatsby Benchmarks.
  • Collaborating with staff and external agencies to provide outstanding personal development opportunities for students, including work experience and extracurricular activities.
  • Leading and coordinating RE lessons in line with the school curriculum, engaging students and ensuring inclusivity.
  • Supporting the Assistant Headteacher in developing strong partnerships with Rochdale Sixth Form and other educational providers to raise student aspirations.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant subject.
  • Experience teaching RE and/or PSHCE with a commitment to improving student outcomes.
  • Leadership experience in curriculum development or a similar capacity is desirable.
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and the PSHE curriculum, with a commitment to student well-being and personal development.
  • A proven ability to assess and evaluate the impact of the curriculum and adapt it to meet the needs of all students.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to whole-school values and working collaboratively to support student development.
