HEAD OF PSHE
Required for two terms Maternity Cover from September 2025 to March 2026
(A part-time post – 0.5 FTE)
An enthusiastic and dedicated teacher is required to deliver outstanding lessons to all pupils in the school and to be responsible for the leadership, promotion and development of Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education.
Responsibilities will include overseeing the provision of relationships and sex education (RSE) under the statutory guidance for schools.
A passion for the importance of the PSHE programme and a high level of organisation are vital, as are a sense of humour and natural empathy with boys aged between six and thirteen.

Job Description
- To be responsible for the leadership, promotion and development of Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education.
- To teach PSHE (including RE and RSE) to boys from Year 2 to Year 8.
- To review boys’ progress at regular intervals in line with the school’s ‘mark reading’ system.
- To liaise with all staff regarding the delivery of PSHE, and to inspire other members of staff to recognise the role they have to play in PSHE.
- To communicate with parents concerning the progress of their sons, via end of term reports.
- To attend Pastoral meetings.
- Co-ordinate events such as International Women’s Day and Fire Safety (Yr 5), and organise talks and trips such as Parliament week/trip, Careers talks and Parent talks with Head of Pastoral and Head of ICT.
- Organise Termly PSHE coffee mornings.
- Update the PSHE & RSE Policy annually and consult with governors and parents (via survey).
- Plan and carry out PSHE Pupil Voice survey annually
- To supervise prep sessions where required.
- Duty to promote and safeguard the welfare of the boys.
Person Specification
The successful applicant will have the following qualities:
- Ability to lead the continued development of PSHE within the school.
- Ability to teach PSHE (including RE and RSE) to boys from Year 2 to Year 8.
- Ability to inspire boys to feel confident and secure in their knowledge and progress in PSHE.
- Ability to inspire other members of staff to recognise the role they have to play in the delivery of PSHE.
- Ability to enable boys to enjoy PSHE.
- Ability to offer high level and compassionate pastoral care.
- Ability to communicate with parents effectively.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to promote and safeguard the welfare of all the boys.
